Vehicle crime data, analytics and reporting

Our data analysts collaborate closely with government bodies, police forces, and insurers to translate complex vehicle crime data into clear, actionable insights, aiding our stakeholders and partners in spotting trends, understanding risks, and making well-informed decisions.

Vehicle crime reporting and analysis

Retainagroup offers data analysis and reports drawing on decades of experience in vehicle security. Using the ISR and LEDS, we examine theft and recovery trends to deliver actionable insights for government, law enforcement, and the automotive sector. Our reports identify emerging crime patterns, support compliance, and assist manufacturers, insurers, and regulators in making well-informed decisions to reduce vehicle theft and fraud.

How vehicle crime & analysis reporting works

Our International Security Register (the ISR) receives a daily file of stolen, recovered and written-off vehicles from the Law Enforcement Data Service (LEDS). Data sharing is undertaken in accordance with the processes described in our Data Sharing Agreement (DSA) with LEDS, strictly for the prevention and detection of vehicle- and property-related crime.

The DSA allows us to provide several organisations with limited reports, such as the Top Ten Most Stolen Vehicles and additional anonymised data when appropriate, through to enhanced analytics to the Home Office, NaVCIS, police forces, insurers and manufacturers.

PowerBi

Power BI provides a fully interactive visualisation of the dataset and allows the user to drill down into the data to extract information to support research into particular areas of interest.

Due to the highly sensitive nature of the data and its source, we carefully assess all requests for reports – both in terms of the organisation concerned and the reason for the request. If vehicles are protected by our window and/or parts making system, we can also report on cloned vehicles. This is made possible through checking against the Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and the Vehicle Registration Mark (VRM).
